My first trip to the USA took me on a classic route through the National Parks of the West. With a rental car and a tent, it is easy to explore the spectacular landscapes and protected areas. The diversity of the country and the freedom of camping in secluded spots surrounded by nature is really amazing.
With a completely different plan, I traveled to the USA for a second time in 2025: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, spending months on the trail with my tent and living in the backcountry. During a politically unstable time, what stuck with me most - besides the endless views from the trail - were the friendly, openminded people and their incredible willingness to help.
